Since 1947, May 1st, is a  day and consecrated by the parade of unions in large cities. This day symbolizes the offering of lily of the valley, as tradition popular in fact, this flower brings joy. What is certain is that in the 15th century, May 1 was the feast of love, during which the princes and nobles went into the forest to cut the branches that were used to decorate homes it became custom to give a sprig of lily of the valley, a symbol of springtime, on May 1. The government permits individuals and workers’ organisations to sell them tax-free. Nowadays, people may present loved ones either with bunches of lily of the valley or dog rose flowers.

Despite a lack of connection between the holiday bells of spring and the international workers day these two festivities are celebrated together.
